I can't take credit for this, since it was done as an anonymous image at my home, by an unknown (avian) artist. We woke up to find the image on our back window, after a light rain the evening before. I like to think the artist survived, although I have doubts.
Thankyou all, for your comments. I don't know how this "birdprint" happened, but I think it had something to do with the fact that I don't "do" window cleaning. The window was wet and dirty before impact. The rain may have thrown up dirty water onto the bird's wings while it was hunting for worms and insects in the field. We have really gusty winds around the house, and flight navigation must be a challenge. It had a wingspan of 16", and I presume it was a robin, or a magpie. We don't have owls around the house. From this compressed image it is hard to appreciate how much detail you can see in the wing imprint -- I found that amazing.
Pow!...poor guy didn't pull up soon enough...surprised there aren't any feathers stuck to the glass...one of the most unusual shots i have ever seen....great job Dave....my condolences to the artists family.
Dave, I really love this, and am about to cry. But you wouldn't believe the cracks my husband is standing here making, "Dirty bird, or dirty window that created the image?!!!!!" Can't even remember the rest. You know how it feels when you can't stop laughing, and laughing is the last thing you want to do?
If you look at this picture long enough, it starts to look like the top of a huge mountain during a blizzard, but with the sun somehow shining down on it. :) Sorry to hear about the bird, though...I hope it's a consolation to it that it made a very interesting abstract. :)
