About I was out having some fun with some other photographers the other night. As I was the only one on digital we had lots of fun playing with effects as we were able to see the results instantly. I was teaching them the ghosting effect and this was one of the results. You should be able to see myself and another photographer partialy visible at this railway station that was built in 1900. There was a third photographer in this image but for some reason, possibly because of her dark clothes, she didn't show up well.

Thanks Rafi. But I actually use that technique on a daily basis. I stated in the about that I was teaching this camera effect to other photographers that don't use the computer much for their images. So they needed to see it being done.

I believe that you wrote that you achieved this photo by a double exposure of the railway station. You may know this and you may not, but there is another way of achieving perfect superposition of ostesibly two photos. You open a photo, do what you want to do on and between it and the other exposure, change the name of the first exposure (e. g. "railway" to "railway 1") select and pull it over the first exposure. In this way you don't have to fear camera movement etc. and achieve perfect superposition.
Best regards,
Rafi

Fabulous nightscape Judi, the "ghost" is perfectly framed - if he had seen the camera, he may have been "spooked" :-)

Best wishes,
Steve

Really cool image Judi. This is a technique I've never rally mastered. Tried it a few years ago, pre digital, by using double exposures. Not very easy or successful.

Thanks Biliana. I like night photography, because then I really have to rely on other forms of light. I don't like using the flash unless I have to.

Ben. This image was taken on a main road. Large trucks with a couple of trailers behind going through between the camera and myself. Do you really think that I would be able to hear anything...LOL!!

Great shot Judi.... James Bambery has a similar shot on his profile too (a ghostly image) but his is taken in daylight! I've always said digital allows more creativity due to the immediacy of the image..... You've demonstrated that admirably! I like the night image of the old railway station - perfectly exposed and lovely colours too! Well done Judi... another excellent shot.

Wow - cOOl ghosts.
The tird ghost (at the left) is more ghostly than the others maby - if you take a "normal" picture of her she might even be "seetru" even then :)

Larry...this is our local railway station. It is always in use. It is a very popular tourist attraction.

As for the ghost shots. You can have them whatever shutter length you want. With mine I pressed the shutter, ran across the road and stood there and then someone would tell me when it had finished as the camera was too far away to be able to tell...LOL!!

Cool Judi, so you and your friends just walked into the picture for say 5 of the 15 sec exposure??

Building and picture are beautiful. For being so old, what funding is used to maintain it and all? It is used for somthing right?? most interesting my friend!

Thanks Kel. We did some other shots where it shows all three of us in two places at once. Weirdly enough the photographer who didn't show up in this one did in the double shots, but strangely one of her visions only shows the top half of her and the other one shows the bottom half of her....now that's strange.
