Look at how delicate the petals are on this flower. They remind me of crepe paper. This image was terrible when I first saw it in the contact sheet. It was flat,the background was the same shade as the flower itself, and the flower was small and centered in the frame. To those of you who believe in the straight print (no manipulation), this isn't one. It took a lot of work in the dark room burning, repositioning, and playing with the contrast to get this gorgeous result. And...this image is one of my most-acclaimed pieces.
Hi Charmian, This is an excellent image. Really love the composition and tones. The only thing that would add some improvement, IMHO, would be some spot removal. The white specks seem to steal some of the glory from this beautiful image.
