About This small hill of rocks are just covered by these ancient writings. Some are as old as 1000 years. This site is near Gila Bend, Az. It was a very overcast day so a lack of contrast.

Hi Don, that's really fascinating. Like our Stonehenge I assume. No one really knows how or why it got there. Incredibly clear capture given the circumstances.

There a lot of this type of rocks with writing in the southwestern part of the US. Early settlers in this part of the country left behind their marks for us to see. This is a State Park area. Thanks for your nice comments. don.

Hi Don; a very interesting subject-- and well done. I think including just a bit of the sky on both sides keeps the subject in perspective. Years ago I photographed some petroglyphs in eastern Oregon and wish I had done a better job. The border fits too. Cheers. Craig

I suspect this would be a entirely different looking photo in the sunlight.

I like it as is

Well done Don

An excellent shot of this rather unusual rock formation, Don!
I'm surprised they haven't been put into a museum.
Best regards, Chris

I know like those drawings on rocks and walls. Excellent capture. I never been out that way thanks for sharing.

that sure is a nice lens you are using there - its a pity you are only getting the equivilent of 16mm (with 35mm format) because of the size of the CCD. Nice shot above - you did well considering the lighting> good choice of frame too - very "Aztecy" (ok a different land mass but keeping in line with the ancient cultures feel)
