About Subject background: And now for something completely different... A hairy pal hanging on the wall, staring downwards as cool as can be, reigning the scene. Even his evil mirrored twin on the left checks out the scene, waiting for bait. I call this fisheyed friend "steve" - dunno why but this nice guy reminds me of steven bowden, a good friend from Usefilm. Steve, you have to live with that comparison, hope you don't mind ;-)

PS concept: worked on levels, colors and a mild cropping

Special equipment: Nikon 50mm f/1.4, tripod go home ;-)

As always: Honest feedback highly appreciated.

Thanks to Ursula for the great idea to go Nuremberg's Zoo.

Lovely colours and composition. I know this fish well from diving in the Red Sea. This is one of the only fish I ever saw that doesn't swim away when you go near it -- it just turns its spikes towards you and kind of looks at you: 'go ahead, make my day'!
i like to look at it if its behind a thick acquarim glass!
regards
omar

HEHEHEHHEHE...

Great picture Thilo... Excellent composition... The colors of "Steve" are great... He has a kind of a sad look... so cheer up your little friend... :)

Really very different from your other images and I like it a lot.. Love the mirrored image... It makes the scene intriguing... Keep on with the great work my friend...

Cheers,

MaLuisa

Thankyou Thilo - this is a beautiful Lionfish (zebrafish / scorpion fish depending where you live). Graceful and pretty deadly - my father used to keep these in his fish tank.

The shop he bought them from sold them in different sizes with different "warnings".

A 4 inch fish could put you in hospital for the day.

A 6 inch fish could put you in hospital for a week.

The 8 inch fish .... was not for sale !!!!

Ours was very tame to the point you "could" hand feed it garden worms :-)

Lovely photograph Thilo, but I will stick to my tropical "freshwater" setup lol

Best wishes,
Steve

I'll pass on the fish Thilo! How colourful is this? Vibrant green/orange combo and I like the reflected fish, and your rotation makes it more intriguing. Steve's not looking his best tonight!
