Thanks, James. I had read your 'About' with your picture where you mentioned what you did. Thanks for posting this additional information as well--appreciated.

Nothing special really Mary. The main tools I use are just a simple glass bud vase to hold the flower in the position and some big sheets of coloured and black card to use as backgrounds. Lighting is either window light or household lights and sometimes I use white paper or foil as a reflector. Hope it helps and thanks for your comments.

Your flower photos are so well done. I have trouble with these kinds of shots. I guess I must be patient. I just started taking pictures in January. I really appreciate knowing how you did this. It helps us beginners.
Thanks for commenting on my Moon picture.

Very true, it is not possible to please everyone and trying to do so would be as foolish as it is impossible! What you must do is try your best and make sure you are happy. Photography is great to share but it is also a very private pastime. Thanks.

HI James Yes this is another lovely lovely composition- but yes perhaps the bright red does detract a little, andat the end of the day it is what you like best that counts really. I have uploaded images and I get ' love the frame' and 'shame about the frame' and I'm left thinking well I tried that to see what people think and it's 50/50 for and against LOL

Thanks Mark, i agree about the frame, in Photoshop I was working at a reduced magnification and it looked fine, but at 100% on usefilm its a bit in your face.

The light, the colors, the black background and the focus - absolutely perfect. The framing looks to me almost a bit overdone. The pictures itself doesn't really need it.

Congrats, Markus
