About Another dog portrait, still trying to capture calendar worthy shots with extra space around the subject to crop to calendar format.
Any suggestions/ comments would be appreciated.

To save you the trouble, I did the best I could to change the white flowers to purple. To me, they look a bit strange - kinda like they're floating with no stem. For some reason, the white flowers don't have that effect, but if I were going to choose between white flowers and not white flowers, I'd say no white flowers - I agree they're distracting.

I suppose you could make an argument for this photo being unbalanced, though I didn't notice it until you mentioned it. I like the way the line of fireweed brings you right to the pensive-looking subject.

Even in the middle of a drought these dogs are never completely dry... they're water dogs, and believe me, they will find moisture if it's around!
Thanks so much for the suggestions... I like the removal of the white flowers (thanks MS!) and the green at the top makes it seem more of a natural frame than with the blue.
I'm wondering about changing the white flowers to purple though, to balance it out. I'll have to play with it more when I get home.
thanks again!

Another great Golden photo, Kim - are they ever completely dry? :) Very strong, head-on composition and nicely soft background. I agree with Mary Sue about editing out the white flowers, just because they're brighter than the rest of the scene and draw the attention away from your subject. I like the amount of room above her head, but maybe the blue could be replaced with green? You know how I enjoy trying the edits I suggest, so here goes... :)

I like how you are working with this theme. The colors work well, very warm and inviting.

I might clone out the white flowers in the left background in order to keep the focus on the dog.

Cool, Kim!

This is an intriguing picture Kim: I especially like the warm coloured fur of the dog in contrast to the strong cool colours in the background which by themselves in their contrast and in their pointillistic quality are a piece of art by themselves again. Regards Jorg
