Not all, but most of the minority men in North Vietnam do smoke, heavy smoke. They don't smoke cigarette nor cigar. Instead, they use a length of bamboo as pipe.
Their second habit is drinking, heavy drinking. On Sunday market, they don't deal with the exchange, the sale, the purchase: those are tasks to be taken care of by their wifes or daughters. Men and boys go to restaurants or sit together to chat, to drink and to smoke. By end of the market cession, most of them get drunk: their wifes pack them on horses or water buffalos to take them home.
Minority people don't talk about equality between men and women. And all the ladies accept this rule.
