it is another brilliant abstract that triggers the imagination which wonders in the light/shadow patterns formed... i agree with you about the end result with digital but even thou its beauty is not reduced.... excellent! emy

Hello Hugo - there is very little planning one can do. I know now some general patterns that I can recreate reliably, but mostly it is pure exploration. I like it that way too as it makes every session a new journey.

Hi Stefan, A feline pattern, and very elaborate refractions. Just out of curiosity; when you do these on film / paper, do you plan the composition in advance, or is it more of a trial and error method?
Cheers,
Hugo

Amazing texture and form... All those made with this special technique are very unusual and special. Easy to imaginate and see things.

Hello Antonio - This whole series ("Refractions" in my portfolio) are all based on laser refractions in oddly shaped pieces of glass. The refractions are either captured directly on film or photographic paper, or, like it was here, projected onto a screen and photographed with a film or digital camera. Thanks for your interest! Usefilm does not allow links in comments for some reason, but there is a link to my own website on my profile page on this this site.

In this instance I think the problem lies in the digital camera's Bayer pattern - the original image mosaic becomes very bumpy and the software that interpolates to a full image does not really know what to do with the information it gathers. Film, of course, does not have to worry about all this processing.

supremely rendered in pure light (I agree completely with regards of digital pictures: never so fine as a direct light print on paper or film:))
