About This little guy was only a couple of inches in size and had lots of friends. Capturing a sharp image of this fast moving critter under low light was quite a challenge. The background was a rocky floor and the glittery look was aquired using a shallow depth of field.

I'm pretty sure I've commented on all your jellyfish posts, but I'll check. This was an extremely tough jelly to photograph. I intentionally wanted to vivid background as the backdrop, but very out of focus. It came out better than I anticipated.

Underexposed by 2/3 stop.

jim, excellent! i love it. beautiful shot! you managed to get the blue background. i had to underexpose so much that my background came out black. and you're right, these guys are very hard to shoot! they keep pulsing and swimming around so much it's hard to get your focus right.

i ended up posting two that came out ok. one is in my portfolio and the other i posted in a comment under the same shot. i wonder what you think....

i'm curious as to what your settings were? i'd love to compare and learn.

take care,
tom

PS - you get a 7 for this one. very high degree of difficulty ;^)

Another wonderful capture!
you accomplished the difficult and the end result is a thing of true beauty.
Love those aquariums, they offer such awesome photo opportunities.
