First I thought it is flamenco because of her "posing". If it was flamenco the shoes are very essential for her dancing, so I was already wondering why she is dancing without. Just my thoughts. But on the second glance I think it is a band and she is a singer? Great shot! Frank

Emily, Martha Graham once said, Dance is the hidden language of the soul and you capture movement it self very well. A good shot, you might try to blur the people in the background to bring out the movement of the dance more. Just a thought :) A most wonderful photo as is. Cheers, James

Very nice outdoor portrait, much more difficult to capture than it seems. Congrats.

i'd really like to be there watching her dancing barefoot ;-) if i had the chance to take her picture i'd go for a relatively wide aperture which would throw her surroundings out of focus and ensure a higher shutter speed to freeze her movement. i might also use fill flash to lighten up the shadows created by the harsh lighting. or i could keep my camera in da bag and leave you take pictures...and ask for a copy of this one afterwards ;-) bye

Almost listening to the music...I like the shadow of the girl, and the hands are wonderfully captured performing a ( dead can ) dance?!

Ohhhh! Good capture of the gestures in her arms. Barefoot?.....on stone?....must be hard on her arches. Nice work, and I like your snazzy new bio pic too.

I can see how you must have had to stop down the aperture to not overexpose here, and while the people in the background are interesting, it might've been better to be able to de-emphasize them and the building a little bit. Beautiful capture of the dancer in very difficult light. The strong contrast is almost forced upon you, but it works well here.
