About Yesterday I was back in the town where I was born and grew ~ dropping Carole at her mum's for a few days. So before I turned round and drove home I took a drive down to the harbour where I used to fish as a kid?

Would you believe it? The second I stepped out of the car it started to rain!! But I still managed to get this shot of the lifeboat, moored up by the side of some quaint harbourside cottages.

Forgive me this touch of nostalgia!!

Best regards to all,

Chris

Really a beautiful shot Chris, so colorful despite the oncoming rain. Thanks.

It's beautiful, Chris! So well composed, and even without sunshine the colours turned out great! I recognised your childhood village even before I read you text! :-)

No, I'm sorry, you've really hurt me now? ;-))

Actually, I'm glad you're honest!! Why say you like something when you don't?! It's just how SOME people say it that I get annoyed about!! So arrogant and dismissive ~ especially on photo.net!! The Bible talks about 'speaking the truth in love'. If everyone did that there would be a lot less hurt around the place!! Okay, sermon over!! You get it right, so no problem!!

Now, then, about that sky! I suppose it COULD have been a Weymouth sky ~ eventually! ;-) It's just that it wasn't around at the time I needed it!

And, as for the frame, I wanted a lighter frame because that's how I wanted it printed and didn't have the time to frame it differently for UF. On paper I think it looks real nice.

Thanks again Mrs. C. ~ your comments always add a touch of sunshine to my day!

Best regards, Chris

Hi Roger,
I was a regular beach mission kid from the time I was around 7 or 8 ~ i.e. around 1964 onwards.
I remember them well!
Best regards, Chris

Hi Mr S :-)
Is that a Spracklen sky or a Weymouth sky? Most suitable as it sets off the colours.
The frame I find terribly boring - it blends in too much with the white UF background. I am so used to seeing something vibrant from your hand - so don't be upset with my comment ... you spoiled me!

Hi Chris; a wonderful shot-- and "my kind" of picture, ie marine, seafaring etc. And I quite enjoyed your trip down nostalgia lane. It's enjoyable getting to know people along with their photographic style.

Thanks for your comments on tonights seascape. I think you're right on re shutter speed for that photo-- probably more like 1/30!! I think I can edit that. I shoot almost exclusively in aperture preferred automatic but I constantly monitor SS while shooting to control movement effects-- but who remembers?;>). I usually have a good idea of what it was by looking at the pic though. Cheers. Craig

Well, well! Weymouth, huh? Used to go on CSSM missions down on the sands instead of having a summer holiday like everybody else. Maybe you were among the kids there. I was there several years of the period 1956 to '65. Love the photo, by the way. Werry nostalgic for me, too. [g]

Hi Chris,

very very nice indeed. This is my sort of image, and that sky - love it.

Keith

ps - I have a few days holiday to take so tomorrow I'm driving down past you and on towards Dartmouth/Slapton area. Although I'm taking the camera I'm not sure I'll get much chance to use it. I'm bringing my wife, 4 kids and a dog - oh and a tent !! Just hope the weather holds up.

Nostalgia is fun!

Very nice Chris, the fronts of the houses/buildings remind me of some of the areas of San Francisco, except in SF they are 'wilder' colors!

Really nice quaint place, fun for you to revisit!

I like the subtle frame with this one!
Lori :)

What a beautiful place to grow up. I hear that you have had a lot of flooding in your area of the country. It has been on our TV. Must be on west of where you live. Makes a great sky for this lovely scene. Nice frame bachelor Chris, at least for a little while. Don.
