It was a lucky "catch". Some of the stores in the mall will not let you take photos. But this guy from Abercrombie's was in all their mailings so do they care?
I took soooo many pix of my mum, but came to realize that this one meant so much to me in terms of her personality. Love your Gran, too.

I missed this one when it was honored, and have just found it. A great shot, with humour on the surface but sadness underneath... I was sad to hear of your mother's struggle with Alzheimer and know that this must be hard for you all, too. Good that her love of beauty survives as the outer shards of personality are peeled away.

Kursat, wow. This is high praise. I have many photos of my Mom, but this one sort of sums up her zest for life and appreciation of beauty in all its forms. She was a talented artist and I miss her a lot. But I am still surrounded by the beauty she created and I treasure her paintings.
I am glad you like my work. I hope to devote more time to Usefilm and dig more into the archives. I so admire your portfolio, too. It is so alive and vital and current with all your travels. Are you planning a book or perhaps some advice on being a traveling photographer? It would be great to hear more background.

Thanks for your comment, Guiliano. I see we are both fond of spending hours in the darkroom. I used to love to tweak my b/w prints for both clients and for my wall. I was very interested in the information about your printing process.
Sadly, no more smell of chemicals for me, because my tweaking is on the computer.
Your prints scan beautifully. I will visit your gallery some more.

Hi Stephan, I thought about the flash reflections and had not considered this photo, until Massimo showed his intriguing store window shot in Project #46 and I was reminded of it. So I am glad that you like the concept, too.
I am thinking I actually like the reflections - giving the glass a presence in the photo and a sort of sheen to the young man's image.

Thanks Gayle, I missed the POD. We had no electricity for 8 days in Palm Beach County.
I feel bad when I cannot visit usefilm everyday. Has been a little slow lately, but could be the Florida situation - my phone keeps going in and out. But DSL keeps working - thankfully.
I agree with "yummy". And I love that at her advanced age my mother gets that twinkle in her eye, even tho she has trouble speaking now.

Congrats Lee on your BIP!!! What I find most intruiging about this shot is the capture of admiration of beauty regardless of age and regardless of sex. You don't see too often the "older woman, younger man" in the media, but we all know it most certainly exists -- He's 'hot' and she's 'hot' too!!! Visually this is very powerful and positive image. Max, thanks for your thoughtful reply. She is "forever young" and a delight, even though she now suffers from alzheimer's. She responds very well to attention, so we try to keep her involved.
