Thanks Jim for taking the time to play with the image. What I did was use the "equalize" function in PS7 which really popped it out, I then added a bit of what I thought to be a reddish tint, that turned out to be "yellowish" on this site.

There is an odd color cast to this image. And after tinkering with the image it almost makes me think the saturation was bumped to high or something. Very peculiar. Anyhow attached is my best attempt to tweak your image to remove the color cast with a levels adjustment. I'm not sure how close this will be to what you saw, but it looks much more natural to me.
To your image I really like seeing the dark clouds as the backdrop. They really make this image very dramatic.
