About Several of the streets in Central are closed off on Sunday so the Filipina maids can sit in the shade entertaining themselves. These streets border many of the major designer stores which are open 7 days a week. The doorman of Cartier looks like he wishes he was Filipina himself today.

Bev, Of the 700,000+ foreigners in Hong Kong, 200,000+ are Filipinas (or from the Philippines). Nearly all of them are "Domestic Helpers" or maids, who work six days a week for little pay, although most get accomodation and food. They all send most of their money back home to support their children and families, as most have children with husbands who have "moved on". As a race they are particularly musical with most of them having good or great singing voices. The Catholic Church on Sunday has a Mass almost hourly, and the sound of their voices is something that must be heard to be believed. Shame I can't capture their voices on film.

Ray, I really like this series. Who are the Filipina? Is it an ethnic group or a group like white collar/blue collar? Your photos are so interesting, and really tell the story of the common man.
