About I've been reading quite a few photography books recently (John Shaw currently) and the overriding thing I've learned about composition is to keep it simple and un-cluttered.

For this one I decided to do just that, to the point that you've really only got 2 triangles at the bottom and a big expanse of shy with interesting clouds at the top.

It was taken at Robin Hood's bay at the weekend just before we left at 11AM, so technically not the best time to be taking photos.

Excellent, even if it wasn't the perfect time of day. :) Simple, no doubt of what the subject is, and the fence adds a lot of interest. Well done!

Just an aside really, but when i was taking another photo (attached) I was trying to get the horizon levelled up in Photoshop using the Crop tool, rotating it till I got it level with the sea.

I'd convinced myself after afes of trying that I could actually see the curvature of the earth cause when I'd got the centre and one end lined up perfectly, the far end would be out be a few milimetres.

Amazing I though....

Then realised that i'd taken it at 18mm lens lenght... the barrel effect must have altered it a little?

But then I though again, the barrel effect would make the sea's edges "smile", i.e. pull the edges up a little.... In this case, the edges were pulled down..... like a sad face.

Surely that meant that I could see the earth's curvature!!

Crazy stuff! Anyone got any ideas on that?
