About I am so incredibly proud of this image! Patience paid off this morning - braving a freezing light breeze and shot against a natural background, this beautiful light blue Iris astounded me when I downloaded the images.

I do hope you like it as much as what I love it :-)

Apart from removing a couple of light spots in the background, this image is untouched.

Adrian, if you read my bio you will see that I only started seriously photographing this year. I had a very simple, very basic little demo model digcam and it was good enough to take pictures of my kittens for their new owners.

When I got the Z1, I realised that there was something in me, a gift that I needed to develop. Look at my portfolio and start from the back. See the crappy images? But do you also see how I improved (and I am the first to admit that I have a LOT to learn still!) and how I continue to try and better my images?

I had a lot of support and ongoing mentoring from a couple of UF members. Without them I would never have achieved what I have so far.

Some photographers are better at photographing different things, like architecture or people, etc. I know I have a feel for flowers and that helps.

What also helps is looking at as many floral images as possible and try to understand how those photographers achieved what they did, and then try to copy them. Once you got the grasp of florals, your own style will come easily.

Good luck

Linn

Linn,

it's just beautifull!
Love the shades of light.

The only, really only thing where I have doucts is the fram. You asked about it i one of your previous posts. I could do with a simpler one.

But, I nitpicking now, should stop doing that...

My compliments,
Jeroen

Linn,

This is beautiful--you are right to be proud of it! The colors are so delicate, and you've captured the striations in the petals beautifully. The way the background is highlighted in the upper left and gradually becomes darker as it moves down to the right adds just enough interest without detracting from the subject. A very lovely job, even the border colors pick up shades from the Iris. Beautiful!

Regards,
Anne

This Iris is quite beautiful! This is one of those times I would have prefered the black BG.
Perhaps it would have been too much retouching?
I like the soft gentle details and colors.
Well done for sure!!
Cheers!
Bill

Extraordinarily beautiful flower. You've filled the frame nicely and achieved an excellent DOf.I appreciate the difficulty of the latter with Irises, there's just so much to them! That pale shade of blue is stunning. The only thing I would change are the couple of blades of grass on each side of the main stem-just bend them down to get them out of the way.Maybe reduce the exposure really minimally to get a little more texture on the central flower at the back. That's the beauty of having a digital camera, you can just go on tweaking and refining a photo-and then do it all over again in photoshop!Whatever,at the end of it all you still have a very fine image like the beauty you have here.Regards Tony.
