i was lucky enough to have these two bystanders talking for a long time which gave me plenty of opportunity to get the shot. thanks for the comments

Thilo,
you are on to me. my PS skills are sub-par and when i desaturated this one, it looked incredibly grainy. i'd love to rework a cleaner version of this shot, as it is one of my favorites. thanks for all the recent comments,
todd

Dear Todd,

nice b/w composing with strong silhouettes and a nice off-centered picture on the wall. the wall and the floor seem to suffer from rework (grain? blur? ...), but anyway: like the outcome. good work!
cheers,
thilo

todd...

first, thank you for your kind words about my cigarettes and coffee shot. much appreciated.

second, this is a terrific shot. the composition is wonderful. the balance of the light wall and darker floor, the horizontal floor/wall line opposed to the diagonals of the painting yet picking up the horizantal lines in the painting, and the living "statues" forever gazing at he painting are just great. really nice work.
