This photo shows that the average height of monks has raisen in 1000 years as well. The monks at the ruins are of course very popular with all tourists with cameras. I guess at the end of the day, they are tired of posing time and again. I was fortunate enough not to have any popping-up tourists on my photo....not: I had to clone 1 white t-shirt out in PS, just as a little rope. Sometimes I love PS and it's wonder-tools. This is a wonderful image. I like the texture of the rock and the sense of time you get from the ruination of the rock & door frame. The saffron robes add a nice touch of color.
I once read somewhere about certain monks whose doorways were built lower so they always remembered to bow before entering. But I wouldn't doubt the few extra inches in height over a millennia theory either! :-)
