HI MICHAEL! I can't thank you enough. I was able to follow ur directions really well. The number 1 attachment is my result and 2 is the original. Looks pretty close. Hopefully I will be able to do the more complicated way next time. Which is to be able to tint sepia only the midtones and keep the shadows and highlights in greyscale just like what this original picture is. If you go to the site, it will give directions but I couldn't figure out how to follow this order. Anyway, I got pretty close to what I wanted, thanks to you. Karen

Karen, the easiest if you are not familiar with masking is to select all, copy, paste as new layer. The top layer you sepia tone. the bottom layer you reduce the saturation just so that it has the right amount of original color that you like. Then simply either use the eraser (with a soft brush) and erase out parts of teh top layer where you want the color bottom layer to show through. Or use the selection tool, and select the top layer parts you want to cut out (maybe with a bit of feathering) where you want the botom color layer to show through. Then flatten the image and voila! Done. Masking works in a similiar way - but is a bit more involved, it's all explained in the help and there is even a tutorial in the learning section of the help. Hope you have great success - we look forward to seeing the result

Hi Michael,
I was wondering if you can help me with a problem here. I just downloaded the Paint shop pro 9, you can probably say I'm new with paint shop pro but nontheless, fast at learning. I'm trying to turn a picture from a colored one into where it's greyscale with sepia midtones. Then selecting a specific area and making it show light tint of it's original colors. I guess it's like what u did with this flower except I would like the background to have sepia midtones but keep the shadows and highlights greyscale. Basically I know how to turn it into sepia, or grey scale, but I don't know how to use layering or masking functions. Can you help me?? If you can then maybe I can avoid paying lots of money for my upcoming wedding pictures. Thanks. I've attached an example.
