About Second triptych about the Bam Earthquake of December 27th 2003 in which this once beautiful and ancient city was brutaly disrupted by the forces of nature. For more details see http://www.usefilm.com/image/310922.html and my portfolio. This photo is not beautiful nor artistic. It merely depicts what we encountered. What happened to the people of Bam is indescribable let alone be eligible for rating.

When I have this great life and.... yes! I feal bad....because I need more! These photos can take me a trip about what hapen to the world. Now I am awake!

It is sad image, but part of our life, since existing, we have to except the nature, but in these day the human caused is more than the nature, well done again, but repeating it .i don?t know if worth it or not. Regarding the image it self I think the quality of the scanning not up to standard of the image, may be B&W is better, as Biliana motioned ,to me nothing to do with the monitor it is colour problems.? contrast ,nearly lost the blue sky?. Regards .Saeed

This is indeed sad to look at, Hugo. I always hurt so much for people when I see this kind of destruction. Here I am just sitting here...lacking for the right words...
Yes, good photo journalism!

Lori ;)

ps...Hugo, tell me, is this site taking forever to load pictures and comments? Or is it just AOL on my end. I have cable, usually is fast, but I've noticed for over a week it takes forever just to 'submit your comment' (or even call up pictures) Drop me an Email when you get a chance! Lorispix@aol.com (other sites seem OK)

1. Don't 'Shoot The Messenger' ... you're right .. so sorry, but that is the most recent earthquake that came to mind and was basically a 'One-Day-Featured-News-Item' and just went away as quickly as the disaster arrived which is pretty surprising since so many TVs are 'Made In Japan' btw ... lol sorta!

2. The B&W remake is too nostalgic and looks more 30s or 40s or even 20s, so it is out of the question imho, but I thank Biliana as you do for the effort.

3. The image quality is poor imo but doesn't matter for a 'catastrophic capture' so you're off the hook once again with that 400-Speed film which I don't like at all but is probably good for twenty-four coverage if you actually are on the go that much! The clarity is ok ... so I guess the ground under you stopped shaking ... just kidding!

4. Per my last upload which you just commented on, You and I sure have different ways of documenting 'Natural Disasters' ... don't we?

Carry on!

Good documentary, but I dont know if it is me or my monitor, but the colors need more contrast, so I did some adjustment in PS, and please tell me what do you think. Is it me or the monitor, so all the colors seem too bright for me, tell me please Hugo??
Kiss, biliana

Hugo,

I've been looking at this for awhile and it is a welter of detail...which given your parameters is excellent...while you may not intend art - it is well-composed and so the tree nipping into the left-hand margin of the frame is distracting because it makes us wonder what is beyond the rubble...just something to think about...

Hugo,

The picture is great!!! It represents a crude reality, and it had to be very painful to see those things. You are right, we can no rate so awful moments, but its part of nature. An the struggles of nature is what we are viewing in it.

I come from a place where Earthquakes had done it harm (Mexico), though thanks to god, I have not live such a reality, but I have seen that much. It is great that you could capture those moments. If we try to remember these things, maybe we can become better human beings.

Congrats,

Maria

Photojournalism ? f8 and be there. You chose f16, but you were indeed there.

Hugo, you amaze me with your notice of details. You correctly placed the model in the 1980's and you generally see things in my pictures and make the correct assumptions. If you are ever wrong, rest assured I will tell you!
