David, this is just like any other mosque, built for people to do their daily prayer in. Mosques are regularly maintained and parts of them might be demolished and rebuilt.
Most of this mosque building has gone! it's only the minarets, some coloumns and parts of walls that have survived .. see the pic below .. this is all that has remined:
