Good morning to you Kathleen! Great to see you're back and posting. I love this. Might even like it better without the filter work, but to each his own. Hope to see you soon.

Its about time. Classic Royles, simple, moody, colorful. Liquid filter? +/- feelings. Hot spot in back of cup may be a bit competitive with the main subject. Subject central is OK here.

The liquify is not too distracting, it is great!.....but I am glad you mentioned it as having been added, as I was looking at the cup, and wondering exactly what was making my eye disagree... and with what...now I understand and I LOVE YOUR PICTURE. MY morning coffee is almost my best friend (some days is definitely my best friend) and I can greatly appreciate morning light "blessing" the vessel that holds it. You've done very well with the tones, contrasts and balances of the "earth" colors. Greatly enjoyed, thank you for sharing!

I do love the simplicity of this image. As a confirmed coffee fan, this one hits home. Both the morning light and rich colors are terrific. The colors in the table cloth are wonderful and add a bit of harmony to the image. You commented about the liquify filter...in this case I'd agree with you that it is distracting. I feel compelled to unravel the liquified pattern, which pulls my eye away from that wonderful cup with steam.
I am so glad you posted this.
