...I, who learned to fly with every flight of pure professors in the woods, at sea, in the ravines, on my back in the sand, or in dreams, remained here, tied to the roots, to the magnetic mother, the earth, lying to myself and flying only within, alone and in the dark. A plant dies and is buried again, man's feet return to the terrain, only wings evade death.
The world is a crystal sphere, if he does not fly man loses his way--- cannot understand transparency. That is why I profess unconfined clarity and from the birds I learned passionate hope, the certainity and truth of flight.
The Flight - Neruda
Wonderful, congrats!

Phoenix rising? Excellent image! Beautiful work!
Smile on our loves, and while thou drawest the Blue curtains of the sky, scatter thy silver dew On every flower that shuts its sweet eyes In timely sleep.

Incredible image Jim.. a human phoenix out of the ashes... need I say more. Yes, I'm afraid I do - I'm a woman and I have a lot to say - and stop grinning Jim OK? I'm serious :)))) I don't want to write everything I feel when I see this image because I will embarrass you with too many compliments... ok? heehee, will be back soon, Yours, Cherie p.s. ok then... (she'll tell you something anyway) I don't know whether I want to rise or whether I want to dive (he is looking down isn't he?) it's too exciting - life is short and both possibilities too tempting

Hi jim.......the sky is great really rea\lly cool, but there is something bugging me about that bird....firstly it looks a little 'cut and paste' please dont be offended by my comments, its meant in a constructive way.......i mean, it lacks the 3D effect this kind of image needs, the edges of the bird dont blend to well against that sky and the line running from its beak down its neck seem too smooth,.......the shape of the bird seems irregular.......i admire your skills and yoru imagination, i hope u dont mind me critting this as i have, i know u will get lots of more positive comments and ill probably be 'run out of town' hehe, for mine........but i know u are proffesional enough to take it, tehre are times when i feel an image is worth being honest about instead of just gloryfying it 'cos u like the artists other work. Over all the idea is great and i woudl definitly work on that bird. regards me me me.

This whole thing is great Jim, but I think what I like most of all are the clouds of cosmic dust and stars in the background. I could see a BG such as this being used in many differnt ways by someone with your PS skills. Beyond that, the idea of the human spirit taking flight is cool. Nice work. Cheers. Craig

Jim,
Sometimes when you go all blue with a dash of color I find it jarring but this time the color card was right and the colors are beautifully complimentary. With fewer layers of detail than some of your montages, I find this one allows me to stare at it and drift off into a mode of contemplation.

Great idea and flawless execution. No bowler hat? I guess it didn't fit :-) If the image wasn't conveying the soaring bird so strongly, the clockwork background and the man's confinement withing the outline of the bird could have much more sinister associations.
