thanks for the honest comments,
before I added the line the picture just seemed to run off the edge or something...
do you think a thinner or different colored line could be beneficial?
I definitely don't think it has the same impact if I crop out all of the black canvas either...

This is the kind of picture that brings a big smile on most of the faces that looks at this.. thank you for that. I'm impressed by this picture - and i think it's pure gold. I must though say that the white line on the frame is taking the focus a bit away from the picture, in my opinion. :-)

This is a beautiful shot. The composition is great, and the range of tones is excellent. I think you nailed the lighting, and you can never go wrong with a baby as a subject. Keep up the good work.

I tried to find somehow to email you a private comment, but I guess I will just hope you see it here...
I had Mom sit Indian style and draped her with black fabric. Baby did NOT want to recline at all so I sat him in the crook of her lap hoping to get a face shot, but he kept leaning forward looking for his toes, so I just took advantage!
You can have mom hold the baby over her shoulder or in her arms... I even took a great image of my own daughter while she was riding horsey on daddy's back on my background - you would never imagine that was the setup!

I wish I could get my 4 month old to sit still long enough to focus, compose and shoot this type of photo. How in the world did you do it? I would appreciate some tips on this. My parents are killing me to have some shots taken and we wont even go into what my wife is saying. . .
This is a wonderful. I am going to make a point of bookmarking your "main" site for reference.

I would probably have to agree with more DOF.
I am shooting very closely with a 50mm at 9.5.
I was using 6.7 but having a great deal of DOF problems, so I upped my ISO to 200 to gain DOF but I am afraid to go above the 200 ISO. My lights really are not that great, it is already on full power just to get that aperature...
I will have to think on what to do about that.

Awsome shot here with great use of B&W. I like the softness of the image as it add a tenderness to it. My wife and I just had our son last week and I am in the proccess of taking pic of him. The only negitive I have here on this imgae is I think it need a bit more DOF but I would need to see the print to be sure.

I don't think the image is fuzzy, but being very soft light it does give his soft,round features a bit of a glow. I will check this out though, as I am planning to enter this in a local contest.
I am sure Mom won't buy this print, but as the photographer it give me great satisfaction to see this come out as I am going thru proofs... it feeds me!
