the macro lens is only half the trick - though - the other half is Jorge's ability to see - for someone who doesn't do flowers - he shows the ability to learn ... ;)

E entendes muito bem, diga-se de passagem... esta foto está perfeita com optima definição e cores lindissimas. A luz está muito bem direccionada e dá um encanto maior á flor, que apesar de já estar um cadinho torta (loLolOl) ainda continua bonita! Podes mandar mais de flores, que eu adoro... ;)

Ryan's assessment is correct, esp about the highlight on the leaf - it compliments the shape of the flower and enhances the color

The lighting is wonderful. The shallow depth of field you chose to use works very well. It really makes that red pop and catch your eye. The highlight on the leaf below the flower is great. Usually things like that are distracting to the image, but here the highlight really compliments the red flower.
