Levels tweaked slightly in PS. Taken in a bit of a rush I was unable to avoid the harsh shadow on the castle and did a poor job with the grad filter. Comments please, good or bad.
I think you might turn the shadow into an asset if you concentrate on the tower itself and let the surrounding landscape go. The tower looks a little hot and it comes back to haunt you if you try to dramatize this image into a darker mood. Pardon my hasty play with levels, just trying to convey an idea.
The light on most of the castle is truly magical, but as you are aware, it's spoiled smoewhat with that shadow. Also the tones of the foreground grass are perhaps a bit dull. If you don't mind PS work, you could apply a subtle warm-coloured gradient to the image, with opacity set just so that the grass is covered. At least that's how I make up for not possessing warming filters.
The composition is good, the bulk of the castle on one side is counterbalanced by the land on the horizon sloping upwards on the other side of the photo.
a slight halo around the castle maybe cause of adjusting the levels in ps but that's being super nit-picky. i think it's beautiful, wherever it is, i wish i was there... the shadow doesn't bother me at all. i really appreciated your comment on my "something special".. actually, the red thing is a discarded candy wrapper on a sidewalk in a deserted strip mall near where i live... i guess one person's trash is another person's treasure... thus.. the something special.... : )) thank you again james... for taking the time to wonder... and write.... thank you.
