Thanks for the comments so far...

The bright spot at the top is actually the sun, and a point of focus used in wide angle UW pictures. The sun induces the beautiful black through blue to white graduation. The sun spot also indicates depth, and the effect that water has in filtering out colours the deeper one goes. The strobe (flash) creates the artificial daylight to enhance the primary subject.

Amazingly when shooting UW in b&w the same things apply, even more
so with grey scale graduations.
