Thanks for the tips Riny. What I've noticed is that most of the bigger butterflies will stay on a flower a good 3 to 5 seconds but with these little guys you usually only have a second or two and then they are off to the next flower. I was actually sitting on the ground at the level of the flower and trying to anticipate which flower he might be headed to.

Beautiful butterfly...I’ve been shooting butterflies for years and have a few things to add.One I never use a tripod but I always try to use my body as a prop such as kneeling when I can.That’s also a reason to use a fast shutter speed.Insect photography takes a lot of patience Clay,but it can be very rewarding.
