Yes, this is what I was thinking about too, Stan. I imagined that it was for a more band-like image. I guess if the drummer would be further away from the bassist it would be better for this purpose. Which also shows that again they didn't care a bit for the photographer, ey? ;-) An unacceptable relative position of the members of the group on the scene - this *has* to change! (So said the photographer!! ;-))
The bass players are quite often exactly that. Cool, steady and quite. The instrument must have to do with that. Even some of the very finest bass players around have exactly this kind of coolness. You remember John Entwistle from "The Who"? He was playing his extremely hard runs and riffs, but with that special quiteness, while the rest of the band were smashing themselves up and down the scene.
Cheers!
Nick

Thanks Nick, I had pretty good light at this point of the evening. I actually tried to get the drummer in the background to give it a band type of scene. I loved the quiet but steady look of the bass man. Be well, Stan

Considering the degree of clarity and details, I would say, even better than the other one. And a very goppd presentation of the typical "coolness" of a bass player. I guess the drumer at the background is a small distraction, but when I concentrate of the bass player himself and the great details on his face, the image pays back.
Cheers!

Hi Ania, this was one of the better bass players I had heard in awhile. Wonderful skill and a soft and gentle presence. This band was humble but very talented. Be well, Stan

This was taken at about 8pm and it was in a covered area. I tried lower ISO but could not get shutter speed high enough to avoid the blur of movement. My Rebel has 100,200,400,800,1600. Even at 800 I was not getting shutter speed above 1/50 at f3.5. My lens was not the one really needed for this. Do not have any high end glass yet. Used a $125 Promaster 28-300mm 3.5-6.3 on ebay. It is glass but not like the big boys have. Still had a great time and got some passable images. will post the night shots in a few hours. Have to wait for my time of day for another post. Be well, Stan

I like this one best for the expression on his face.I thought you'd be shooting at night or I wouldn't have suggested such a high ISO!!! All the best, Tony

Hi Brigitte, we just had a county fair a couple of weeks ago with some western music. I missed it but I really love the music at Sweet Pea festival. It is such a blast and everyone gets up and dances. Glad you got the pictures and liked them. I appreciate your interest and responses to our shared interest. Be well, Stan

Cool shot and great title, Stan! I always enjoy reading your very informative "about". Love the expression you caught on this musicians face..kind of a little smirky grin. Clearly he is having a good time. Glad you also enjoyed yourself. I too love good music. Was this "blues" or something else? Sometimes they have music at county fairs... maybe you have one coming up near you soon. :)
Warm regards, Brigitte
P.S. Yes, got your email and great pics! I will write back soon... things have been a bit busy around here as of late.

Thanks Nacho, wish you could have heard them. I had to dance and take pictures while chewing gum. What a feat. They absolutely rocked the house or park as it was. Be well, Stan
