Oh what a fantastic shot! The light is so perfect, and the quality and clarity... excellent! So detailed and interesting... also, a really funny expression on the face! Like an old man alien!

As usual, you've outdone me. Beautiful shot, with composition and exposure dead on. My 22 month old son found this one a few weeks ago and insisted I take its picture, but not as good as this.

Mark.. too bad.. you should have got this shot back in 1997, before Disney made "Bugs Life".. they would have learned so much about grasshoppers from you.. indeed a Hopper.. 7/7

Mark,
This is wonderful! I like your humourous view of the image as well. Fantastic detail and good colour. Added to my favourites so that I can find you again. I am finding the lack of insects in the UK rather frustrating and am really looking forward to my next trip home to SA!

if anyone ever needed to know what a grasshopper looked like they should come to you for the details...this could also go under "The Intimate Portrait"...good light and clarity and an excellent composition

This guy must be over 50 as his chin hair is gray. The image reminds me of a soldier wearing armor.
I couldn't begin to tell you how to improve on this fine image. the top of the antennas are out of the frame, but you had to make this adjustment to get more physical detail in from his left (arm?) or whatever it is called. What I like most is the profile composition. Nice work!

Mark can you give us something that is at least critiqueable?! Personally I can't find anything wrong with or anything I don't like about your bug/insect photos, well except maybe the subject itself, but even then you have a way of making them look beautiful. Well done!
