Artistically and technically perfect, except for the DOF, but you know it. If you can't use a closer aperture, there are no solutions; sometimes I get nice close-up playing with the zoom and the additional lens, but it depends on your kind of camera. A partial, but inelegant solution, is to take two shots with a different focus, then merging them in PS (I never tried this). Regards Massimo

Very good, to try to answer your question on how to get more DOF at smallest aperture would be the focal lenth of the lens..if your are zooming in, you will have less DOF then at a wider angle, or least that what I have seen. Bill

Wonderful picture. I don't know how to get any more depth. I guess you have to move back and then crop but then you lose detail. Have you ever tried a close up lens in front of the normal lens???. You have excellent detail in this picture. Don.

I think this is excellent. I have had the same problem and haven't found a good solution. I found that my autofocus wasn't to be trusted on macros, but that didn't entirely solve the problem.

Not sure on flowers or macro close-ups. I know it's better with a tri-pod and a macro lens. My camera has a macro mode but it's limited on the distance from the subject I have to be just right a lot of trail and error. I noticed on that slower of a shutter speed a tri-pod is a must or very steady hands.
