Good shot, very good sharpness and stoped motion and nice airplane, always 747 will be a classic and like Congords is one of the most special planes ever...

Alison, we (UF82222 and I) never really planned to go to the airport that day. We were headed to the ancient capital at Ayuthaya, but the rain was so heavy we turned back and came to the airport instead. All the aircraft photos in these two uploads of mine were taken very close in time to one another. This was the only photo where the sky was decent, all the others were hazy and/or heavy cloud. Plus we had the sun in a bad spot, it was about 3-4pm and if I had waited another second or two for this photo, I would have been pointing my camera in the direction of the sun.
Anyway, it was the first time I had tried this type of photography, and you really need to search out a place where you wont be found but where you can also get a good view. Which reminds me, we did find one spot where we were right under the aircraft as they passed overhead but for some reason we went to this location instead.

This one looks great color-wise against the sky and clouds. Alison

Hi AJ. I also see a little jaggedness around the wingtip, but in the file I uploaded from my laptop, the image looks fine. I'm sure I unchecked the default sharpening that UF puts on photos, otherwise, I can't think of what it might be.
About the plane being too far forward, I agree. I had several shots of this one aircraft but that was the best one, I'd like to have had him come around again. I suppose I could have cropped some off the right side, but I like to keep the image intact as much as possible. Like I said, we were getting hassled by some local "police" and didnt have much time to play around setting up the photos.

An excellent aircraft shot, James. The angle of that starboard undercarriage might be a cause for concern!
I notice some light jaggedness around the wingtips - not sure if this is just my screen. I'd perhaps prefer just a little more space in front of the plane (or perhaps a little less behind) - just so that it doesn't look like it's leaving the picture...
