Thanks Art, yes I got the 300mm last Friday. I am not sure it meets the high expectations I had for it. I have got quite a few soft images. Also, I expected more from the IS on this lens then I seen so far. Actually, this shot was hand held. I suspect it's my technique, I am seeing an improvement the more I use it but still in the evaluation phase.

Thanks for the detailed feedback. I really appreciate the input as this is the first image I have posted taken with this new lens and I have been wondering if the lens is as sharp as it should be or is it just my technique. I will post a couple more shortly.

Hi Joe,
Very nice composition of this healthy looking chickadee- great exposure, clarity, texture, color and tones and details, with a perfect dof ...this bird looks like he is eye-balling some possible food close by (?)
