Fascinating, James! I like the way the lighting and colour contrast force the leaves into stark relief! Eb

I like this one. Promises of new life and fresh starts. Beautiful minimalistic approach too

Roger - Yeah, I could have shot the cherry trees on the UW campus or some huge magnolia in bloom, but instead I shoot a tiny branch of a tree in a pot in a concrete jungle (complete with rusty support pole). Really it was all about the light through half the leaf. And one other thing which no one seems to have noticed.

Shirley - I personally find that nebula more distracting than the original indistinct geometries, but I know a lot of folks would probably agree with you.

James, I agree with you about the space at bottom, so instead, I layered in a blurred area over the distractions.

Shirley - Thank you. You can show me your cropped version if you'd like. I like the way this version causes the leaves to come really far forward in the photograph. I'm not sure that would carry without the additional space at the bottom.

Lovely, James...especially the backlit part. I would suggest cropping off or blurring more the bottom portion of the distracting background.:)

Sorry, some kind of maple tree is my guess. I'm not a plant expert. It is, however, growing in a large clay pot on the sidewalk.
