About Well after a long story of my D80 and 18-200mm VR Nikon lens getting soaked and becoming completely inoperative due to a leaky water bottle, I have to report that the Lens is fully functional now and the D80 is at 95%. The body seems to draw power when off so i have to pop the battery out as soon as i am not shooting anything so that it won't go dead. But other then that it works just great. I am hoping that just a bit more drying time will bring it to 100%.
I have to report that this area of Argentina is absolutely a must to visit if you have the chance. It is easy hiking, almost flat and you have many ways to access the most consistently dramatic imagery of South America. The only thing is that you will need patience with the weather. It can be nasty but it is highly changeable. So if it is poor in the moment it may not be so later in the day.

Very dramatic shot of the clouds covering the peak and contrasting with the sunlit lower rocks, Tim! Glad to hear your camera and lens are almost back to normal, too!

Those clouds are smokin', Tim! Love the warmth of the sunlit rocks and the blending of snow and cloud. A good test of the D80's hardiness!!!! lol! Who needs a Nikonos?

Brilliant work Tim. Im so happy that you could save the camera from the bath it took in your bag.

Yes we were lucky just enough good weather every day to make fantastic photos. Only one clear blue day which i am never fond of...lol...and that was the day my camera was not working. So i was ok with that. How was the weather at the time you were there? I had heard from the locals that it rains a lot at that time of the year. But who knows now with Global warming changing things.
