Hi Andre!

Indeed, due to its very nature a macro supports the own concentration on the subject. This is perhaps one of the resons that a very big part of nature photography is macro photography.

Goint to your images now!

Take care,

Nick

Hi Nick,
I do believe that it is very easy to neglect compostion at times when photographing nature. As you suggest, we can become overwhelmed by spectacular colours and details. Then the image may not be as strong as we remembered it at the time of snapping the shutter.
It is one of the reasons why I like doing Macro shots so much. Getting very close kind of forces you to compose and think about what we will be showing in the finished image. I like the way Macro/ close-ups bring the viewer into a previously unseen universe. Check out my recent mushroom and milkweed images to see if you like the compositions.

Thank you very vrey much, Jan!

The detail... well, perhaps it doesn't get much better, but a little bit better? Some small out of focus problems at the left and at the right are visible, aren't they? I can only be grateful to the judges that still considered this good enough to make it to the BIPs :-)

Best wishes,

Nick

Thank you very much, dear Annemette!

Indeed one of the 123 ;-). It has some problems of focus at the right and at the left, but still I like it very much too. I think I was lucky to have such a strong sunlight on that autumn day.

As about climbing, well, be careful of the drunken bugs! ;-)

Take care too,

Nick

Thank you so much Andre!

I also consider nature to be much more difficult than assumed to be in general. Perhaps the impressive wealth of colors and shapes makes us neglect the composition? I don't know, but should it be the case, then that would imply that we have to see such scenes from some completely neutral point of view, in order to be able to still think about composition. And that might be the hardest part of it for the photographer, to just keep the cool eyes for composition though even the photographer is still a human being and has to be influenced by such a sight. Just thoughts.

Thanks again and best wishes,

Nick

Thank you very much, Riny! Some out of focus problems near the right and the left border, but I like it very much too.

Best wishes,

Congrats on the BIP for this one Nick!

A few people try this, but it is not easy to get right. I think you captured the light nicely to give that combination of 3D effect along with the translucent look that coloured leaves are famous for.
