Ah, I have the cure for ads: Firefox browser + Adblock add-on. Will make it a true pleasure coming to visit, even if only once in a while.
Great to hear from you :)

eh, kinda sorta. Still hate the proliferation of ads here, but there are several people I'm extraordinarily fond of still hanging in this neck of the woods... :)
I may return, if time allows. So yeah. Hide your chickens. One can never be too careful.
So good to see you posting again...

Rina, babycakes! Zat you?
I bokeh every chance I get. Or is it butoh? Damned b words...
I like to don traditional Japanese garb and white face, then "tap the long dormant genetic forces that lay hidden in the shrinking consciousness of modern man." Usually Tuesday nights, right after "24" airs.
i forget what this has to do with photography...

Ok . . . first of all . . . I knew what bokeh was right up until you explained it. Thanks. :)
Second - with all the oof, oof circles, oof polygons (particulary in Utah), dof, blobby bits and circles I find myself oddly aroused. Then, of course, I remember blades and that "Relax . . . You won't feel a thing" title! A curious dichotomy to be sure.
Last . . . pass the wine. Unlike Phillip, I don't worry about you. Only those around you! LoL!

This is a great shot of a space station which on reflection you really needed to use your tripod sweetie. It is also reminiscent of a rocket ship's burners as it pulls away from earth but I know it can't be this 'cos it would have ruined the camera upon ignition. A light fitting perhaps, nah....I'm going with my first guess. Well done to you sweet Rina a very unusual abstract shot and a great piece of humour. Loved your reply dealing with bokeh, it left me very confused and I shall stay with complimentary background blur until such time that it appears in a dictionary:) :) My very best wishes to you and a great big hug.......Rayx;)

Phil, hello! You may want to refill that red, and while you're at it, pour me one... I have a story to tell you:
On a planet far far away, there exist a wondrous place where photographers can meet and discuss all things photography. The lighting and colours are perfect and no-one ever gets redeye. Anyway, during my recent visit, the topic up for discussion was bokeh. What is bokeh, I hear you ask? Well, one net source (wikipedia) describes it as such: "Bokeh (from the Japanese boke ‚Ú‚¯, "blur"[1]) is a photographic term describing the subjective aesthetic qualities of out-of-focus areas in an image produced by a camera lens. For example, causing an out-of-focus background image may reduce distractions and emphasize the primary subject." ... Still with me? Ok, now, the debate about what is and what isn't bokeh, became heated somewhat with each photographer trying to shove his/her theory down everyone else's throat. "Bokeh is oof circles", "Bokeh is oof polygons", "Bokeh is oof creamy blobby bits", "Bokeh is NOT DoF" (haha, that one still cracks me up) "Bokeh is determined by how many blades in your lens, the more blades, the better the bokeh and the rounder the oof circles" Blah blah blah and it went on and on. Not once did any of these photographers stop to think about how the oof areas enhanced the focused, primary subject matter of the image. Get this, they completely avoided the topic about the subject!! Way too concerned over who has the better lens and what oof shapes one must be able achieve.
Well, I was quite intrigued by all the lens envy, so I set about testing the "blade" theory. Lo and behold, my prime lens could make those round circles which meant I must have a pretty good one, eh? Hmmm... then I changed the aperture, and OMG, I got hexagons!!! I looked at my lens and said, "Well? Which is it man?". No answer of course, very frustrating.
So after all that, I think I may have debunked the "blade" theory and ended up with an image that has perfect bokeh and an implied primary subject.
Clear as mud.

Oh, Rina, my dear, I am very worried about you!
What is this? :))) Are you well? :))) Perhaps I should fly out of Sydney this afternoon to come over and get you some counselling! :)))
I just need to ask one question......is the red wine, that I had last night still affecting me......or, had you had a couple too many when you took this? :))))
What would life be without a laugh?
Seriously, it's an interesting abstract. Quite striking! Oh, I'll turn into a critic one day - this attempt looks like I've got a long way to go!!! :)))
Nice to see you again!
Cheers
Phil
