Cathy. I used the blur tool in photoshop and then added a small lens flare with a 105mm prime lens setting to the middle of the sun and reduced the opacity of the flare to to about 20%. Are you sorry you asked? Jim

Wow Cathy, this is amazing, I think if this is a 'landscape' you are well on the way to mastering them, try no more!!! The barbed wire offsets the sunset colours perfectly, great DoF and the detail f the glow on the wire strands is a brilliant touch. Excellent composition! A fave for me, cheers, Bek:)

Remember one of the good ol' photography rules? Never shoot into the sun? I guess rules were indeed meant to be broken b/c this came out beautiful. The reflection of the sun on wire is exquisite.

Dear Chris, thank you for your encouragement. No, sunsets here are rare, especially since it stopped raining five years ago and clouds are scarce. I have always admired this location halfway between Orange and Bathurst. Had spent the weekend in Sydney, just the two of us, planned to photograph Mount Canobolas (pronounced can-knob- lass)on the way home and the angels sent this! We just sat there til the sun disappeared. So good for the soul. Am still concerned the image is a little dark. CC

Congratulations on your fourth, we too have four. Everyone said "after three, one more won't make any difference!" They obviously didn't have four children! Thank you for taking the time to comment on my work. You may note from my portfolio and intense lack of landscapes. I thought it was lack of skill, but maybe its as you say, abundance of children. I have always concentrated on portraits as relationships are such a huge part of my life. Our youngest child is 18 now so I have just started dabbling in landscapes, but am not yet confident. I can tell you, from experience, that your landcscape taking days will probably be a dream until your youngest can do up their own seat belt. Life gets immeasurably easier then. Good luck! CC

I love the colors here and the DOF. I would love to practice on nature too, but with three kids and a fourth on the way, my focus tends to go the portrait way! Great shot.

Wonderful! Do you always have these spectacular sunsets? I mean the colours and sky are just picture book, rare for us to have such colours inland. I just love the way the focus comes and goes on the barbed wire, the sun on the lower wires highlighting your wonderful perspective. Well done! You will have to keep posting such sunsets all winter to keep me warm!
