I see it as simplitude. Because except the bird and whole blue sky there is .. well nothing :) But still, it is a great capture. Wonderful moment and was probably a hard hunt. For a first attempt amazing outcome. (Yeah I know you took more shots and this is the best :))
Still though, I believe it needs more things in the background or around. Where this bird is looking to ? If it is a "above head" shot, then I have to shut up and applaud :)

Very nice shot, I know how difficult these can be. I'm glad my EOS D60 doesn't use film, I can take a ton of shots in a day with these guys. Well done

First attempt? Pretty good job. Exposure is good, too, which is sometimes tricky for these types of shots.
