Marian - Yeah, this one strikes me as pretty magical. One I'd like to make a large print out of.

J - Thank you. I work hard to get that multi-directional illusion in a shot. It comes from having different distances between the lens and the lights. These different distances produce different geometries.

Very impressive result, looks like the motion was special for each light here, different ways, different blurness and different colors into a nice mix!

Raquel - I picked patterns in nature because these patterns which emerge are natural patterns. I don't know. Seems good enough to me.
The exact painting is very difficult to describe. It'd be much easier to show, but then you'd have to drive all the way to Seattle. On the plus side, we can eat dinner at Madame K's where you will be able to borrow, say, a feather boa for the duration of the dining experience.
Mostly I just wiggle my arm(s) (body, etc.) in prescribed ways to work toward certain desired results.

Thank you James! I'm always curious to hear what did you do to paint your photos, I just don't understand why did you post it in the project Pattern in nature? R...

Raquel - This one's a bit complicated. The neon colors are from lights defining sections around the bar (banks of bottles illuminated by different colors). The orange are overhead incandescent fixtures. I will try to locate a still from this bar and add that to this thread.
