IR work is so much fun, at least it is to me (using Sony F717) .. this photo of yours shows perfectly what different view an otherwise ordinary building can yield in IR, it's full of different hues, colours, shadows, contrasts .. just love it !!
Adding you to my list pal, to follow your future IR work (and your other shots too of course)
Peter

Congratulations Don for the Staff's Choice Award. This is top toch, and very well deserved. You did the right thing converting your D70. I sold mine and regret it. The D200 is fabulous, but gone is IR...

Thanks so much Joggie. I haven't been on much. Just got out of the hospital from a heart attack so pretty weak now. This sure is the way to go if you want good IR pictures. Convert a camera to IR only. If you need details let me know. Thanks Don.

Dear Don, you did great work; I like this image so much - converted colours look unusual, and image has some light 'mysterious' mood. Well done to you. Congratulations on award!!!

Kind regards,
Virgis

Wow, Don. I missed this one. This is very, very special. Congrats on your SC award. By the way, I meant to ask, how did you turn the lights on in my Bridge to Paradise pic. The buildings are different but I can't work out what you did. Looks good. I like it. Cheers, Ann.

Don – Congratulations on the award! Great choice of subject for this IR/post processing treatment. I also like your choice of framing: unobtrusive yet complementary to this image. It works well with the mood you’ve created in this image. I’m intrigued by the possibilities of IR. I’m considering conversion of my D70. Thanks for the link.

Cheers,
-Mike.

Hi Lily, I had my NIkon D70 converted to IR only and I use the 18-70 lens. I then convert the image via channel mixer and finish processing with Photoshop. If you would like to know how I sharpen my images send me an email. Address is in the bio. Thanks for you great comments. Don.
Go to www.lifepixel.com for information on the conversion.

Don, The sharpness and clarity is top notch. Is it the lens or do you have pay attention to certain things to make them look this sharp? The photoshop unsharpen mask that I use does not give me results that are this good. I use a prime lens.

Amazing IR image. Well deserved award.

In thumbnail I totally thought this was a winter scene, until I noticed your comment about it being IR. You fooled my eyes! hahaha

But seriously, lovely photo, very deserving of an award, so congrats.

Hi Kes, yes a computer problem can sure slow things down. I have been doing a little IR work but now have it figured out to where it is easier to do. Thanks for all your very nice comments. Don.

Hi Don - Congratulations!

I don't know anything about digital IR photography, but I like this! That blue sky is really a nice touch. Nice antenna shadows on the siding...repeats the pattern of the shingles on the roof. The foreground branches give it a nice depth.

A corrupt file (I think) on my pc has kept me from commenting or posting...so this is kind of a test!

Best regards,
Kes

I normally don't find IR very appealing, only in certain cases. But I really like this alot, especially with the post-processing of the blue sky. Congratulations on the SC award, I feel this picture certainly deserves it.

Best wishes, happy shooting and all that jazz,
Dave

Hi Roberto, go to www.lifepixel.com and you can see what the conversion process is all about. You can also make the image all black and white which is quite striking. Thanks for your very nice comments. Don.

Hi Hugo, go to www.lifepixel.com This is where I had my camera converted. If you are willing and able they have the tutorial to do it yourself.
You can hand hold the camera now. Exposures are like 1/500 f8 in bright sun. Very much better resolution than with using a
R72 filter.
Thanks. Don.

Hi Don,

Excellent IR photo! I'm thinking of getting the block removed from one of my cameras too - After your examples, I've been experimenting with IR more, too, and I really like the effects that can be achieved with it. Very good shot and postprocessing,

Cheers,

Hugo

Love the contrast in this picture. Very well done. It was probably a very nice place when it was a little newer. With a little love & care, it probably could be again. Thanks for sharing. Kim
