I hate to admit it, but I think it was purely a lucky shot. I have tried to capture similar shots since, but have had little luck with a similar size bird. The little ones are just too fast.

I initially had cropped out the blurred trees in the background, but found the image a little bland and boring without them and decided to leave them in for character. However, I am sure the majority of those that choose to leave comments will agree with your point of view.

Hi there, skillfully caught with nice sharp focus and a lovely depth of field. I do find the lump of Earth/tree in the background a little distracting and would either crop it out and leave a panorama-style frame or clone it out.
