The New Zealanders built the first fiberglass 12-Metre boats, New Zealand KZ-3, KZ-5 and KZ-7 famously nicknamed Kiwi Magic or Plastic Fantastic. To the surprise of many, Magic reached the 1987 Louis Vuitton Cup finals in Fremantle, building an incredible record of 37 wins from 38 races, before bowing out to the eventual America's Cup winner, Dennis Conner and his Stars & Stripes US 55.
Nice shot and imformative about. Most Kiwi's new nothing about the America's cup untill this series and now they are hooked. Myself like many others who don't understand or follow yatching really get into this race every 4 years. Regards Greg
