Hi Miles,
Great way to start on Usefilm. the threatening sky and the deep, dark tones create a very ominous atmosphere. Very pwerful, and dramatic.
Compared to the details and textures in the rocks, the silhouette stands out - just an observation, it rather fits with the atmosphere. It does make me curious as to how much you did to this photo in photoshop.
As to the composition, I think it tends to "lean" a bit to the left, given the larger margin to the dominant subjects on the right side. Given the vastness and dramatic sky, I don't think cropping would do the image any good. Adding a bit on the left side might be rather tedious; guess it's all down to the basics - panning a bit....
Either way, a very good photo, and welcome to Usefilm.
