BAsically a very nice photo, Alison. The subject is quite nice. I do think there are a couple of things you could do to improve it. One would be to play around with the levels and contrast a bit to make the colors pop more. The other would be a slight tweak of the cropping to eliminate a little of the left side. I did a rough example of what I mean. I hope you like it.

Well, it's a great control over DOF,
Colors are a little corrupted (I think it would be better with more saturation or more warmed), but the subject is perfect and make this a good birds photo,

Wow, a macro of a turkey! He does have a few blond hairs on the top of his head. I love the DOF, with the second bird blurred.

As far as critiqueing it. What can I say, The focus is clear enough to see those lovely blonde highlights! Great Glamour shot. Olin Mills would be proud! LOL
