Terrence I would love to see you try the "trick" Dave is talking about. That really sounds interesting...(Dave..hmmmmmmmmmmm:)Thanks for the advice from me to. It gave me some ideas about a Christmas Card I would like to make for next year:)
Thanks for your comment dave, all wisdom and advice is greatly* appreciated (trial and error sucks, it didnt work well in math class and it doesnt work well now either, hehe). With any luck I should have yet another reshoot of this up by friday night - hopefully an evolution for the better! I know somehow I can make this mask work as a strong image, but I'm having a hard time figuring just how.

Hey Terrence... I know exactly how you feel about needed to upload!
This is a little crooked in the frame, and a little off-centered. I would like a little less light falloff on camera left.
If I remember correctly, you are using a single off-camera flash for this photos... Here is something to try: Set your camera for double exposure. Add a big reflector on the left to add a little more fill to left side of "head". Take one shot without advancing frame (use tripod). Then.. reposition the flash behind the subject. Dont point the flash directly at the camera or you will get flare. You are trying to get some rear-edge lighting. With a flash, you have to dial down the output, or put a coffee filter over the flash. Remove any reflectors you have in area. Make sure all the lights are out (as much as possible), and take the second exposure. This is a neat trick for still-life's. You can actually take as many exposures you want this way as long as the light you add doesnt overlap already lit areas causing overexposure in those areas.
