Thanks Hugo! The dull grey is fitting. Most of D.C. is dull and grey. I supose not to be too flambouyent with the tax payer's dollars. I was having a bad day shooting as the monuments and such are not very photogenic and I had not enough time to linger and wait for a moment to happen in front of me and then just as I approaced the White House, There it was. I did have enough time to stop down to f/32 and slow the camera down enough to get the chopper blades to blur some. That was my only thought before I framed it and started shooting. It was all over in 20 seconds.
Very, Very powerful image. The centered composition works well in this case, as it emphasises the menacing vista.
You weren't too lucky with the weather, and although the grey tones do emphasise the powerful sight, it also renders the tones and contrasts a bit dull. Only a minor thing, though.
