This is fantastic. I really like it..
And it creeps me out, I have this thing with manicans and such. I feel they are starting to look to real, and I tend to think they are real until I have taken a double take.. haha, carrried away I know..
I really like this though, well done. Super creative!!

Petal...
I hear ya on the fuzzy comment. I was a *fool* I tell ya, when it came to lighting w/ that damn LED blue light.
The "fuzzy"... that the pro's sometimes call "focus" ;) ...well, it was the sharpest of the bunch. I had to go with it, and it forced me to send this image to B/W, and make it look like a movie from the 30's.
So glad you like this one! Thank you so much for your always entertaining comments!

I have to give my wife the credit for not only my experiments, but for the acupuncture doll. My wife has a major in photography, and she's the one who keeps pushing me (quietly) to try new methods in photography. She's not a photographer any more, but loves to sit back and watch me make mistakes and learn on my own... when she does have something to say, I listen like a student :) The best is when I interupt her reading time to ask what she thinks about a crop. Goes over well. ;)
The doll... well, My wife also love medical illustrations.. so because of this, we always aquire odd gifts from friends who see things, like...say... and acupuncture doll :)
You asked! ;)
thanks for the comments Rina! Always appreciate your words!
cheers, -Joel

This is like, so over my head... but I am enjoying your experiments Joel! :)
Funny, the only question that comes to my mind is, what are you doing with an acupuncturist doll???

Hi Joel, thanks for your reply. I would normally accept your offer without a second thought, but my schedule is flowing over for the next few days, and I have my own photos piling up too, with a few more shoots to come - usefilm is my time to order my thoughts. Any other time, I'd love to have a go, though...:)

Thanks again Hugo!
Agree... so wish it was razor sharp! It was such a hit/miss w/ the LED's again..that I was happy with one image that didn't send my camera sensor into a panic of blue :) ..this was the best of this angle. Had to bite the bullet on the focus, and sharpen only what I could without sending into the world of over processed. ...cause it's on the thin line of having that look to begin with. grr.
If you would like, When I get home tonight, I can upload the RAW files to my website, and you can grab them, and have a go. I found that selective color gave limited returns. Curves, and chanel math was starting to work before I resorted to a very tough session of hue/saturation. Then it took walking away from it for an hour to watch "LOST"... on my return, I was happy.
Thanks again for sparking me to keep trying!!
cheers, -Joel

Oh, YEAH! This rocks! (but it needs to be razor sharp, capturing the textures - minor nitpick)
Awesome angle, too! Who needs subtle background gradients here? I most certainly don't.
The only thing I'm toying with is what a selective colour would do here (my mind is in overdrive) showing the blue chinese characters and the red lines (messed up in the previous comment), maybe even quite saturated.
And on, mixing it with Shane O'Neill's fill flash technique and a lot of post processing, I see the Space Odyssey theme blasting from the big screen. And now I'm getting really carried away.
Keep it up!
Cheers,
Hugo
