I'm trying again tonight, with abit of thought and reflection I might get a better shot - but photography being what it is I might not. The 50mm f1.4 is a beautifull lens, for the money its value is hard to beat, on the 1.3 crop its an amazing portrait lens. I have to pick up some more fast primes as zooms dont cut it in extreme low light.

Many thanks, critques on this image are really helpfull as I have a chance to reshoot it tonight. I actually made a mistake with the exposure info. it should read 1/30sec at f1.8 at ISO 800 so it at the limits of getting a handheld shot. I'll bring a support for the camera tonight (not a tripod - but something), and I'll have a word with the lighting guy and see if he can help me out. I quite enjoy shooting wide open, the 50mm is excellent at f1.6 doing close portraits as the face stays sharp while even the ears are a blur with wonderfull bokeh, I love blur so I'm screaming to get the 85mm f1.2. Kind Regards Keith

Very expressive! really, i dont know what to add more. the whole setting is Superb. just thinking how it would look like if you created more of a sport light directed from top toward the old man's head? also as am seeing the the F/ setting is on 1.4! if you just made it up to F2.0 you could've got sharper details.
Great image,
Regards... Z.S

A dramatic shot with a dramtic title, very nice light and just enough details on the background.. I like the composition and the tones in BnW... Looks like he had it for the day. good shot! regards..

Thanks for your comment Emmanuel, your right about the shadow, I couldn't do anything about it while shooting as I was as far left as I could go and I couldn't interupt anyone in the theatre either, should I clone the shadow out? I feel at the moment that its best left alone. I'm shooting the same play sunday night so hopefully I will be better positioned for the death scene. Kind Regards keith
